Thrive in Meare is a not-for-profit led by artists, therapists and the land we're part of, here on the Somerset Levels.
Our offerings are informed by arts and health perspectives, shaped by significant professional experience in both fields. We make spaces for refuge, and spaces that trouble and nurture belonging, particularly for people who are minoritised, as we are. Here, we practise new ways of living with care and interdependence, between humans and more-than-humans.
If you’re reading this thinking “ok, but what do you actually do, and could I come?”, have a look at what’s on. We have a few invites, and one of them might have your name on it.
The Residency Project:
"A Good Enough Net"A year of paid residencies inviting artists to experiment with practices of kin-making, relationship and belonging, and to imagine the networks of care we need for the world we're living in.
Warm in Winter: "Stone Soup"Monthly outdoor gatherings to make soup together, share a sauna, and spend time with neighbours and friends. Bring something for the pot (optional)
Holiday Forest School: A nature-based unschooling creative programme for neurodivergent children and young peopleoffering space to play, explore, make things and develop relationships at the right pace. Our approach is neuroaffirming, child-led and attentive to sensory needs, emotional safety and belonging.
Warm in Winter: Queer Families & Starlings.
A day of refuge, connection and shared experience for queer families, with time together on the land and an invitation to watch the extraordinary winter starling murmurations.
Thrive's Creative CircleCome on a creative journey with us.We're inviting a small, intergenerational group of people to join Thrive over the coming year . Once a month we will offer you some creative practice opportunity; it could be from one of the artist residencies, or from our ecopsychotherapy practices. We will feed you if we are in person. All ages are welcome. We're looking for people who can join us once a month for six months to a year. Children are welcome, and you don't need any artistic experience — just curiosity and a willingness to take part.
